Anna Karenina

Leo Tolstoy
Next to Effi Briest and Madame Bovary, Anna Karenina is the most famous adulteress of world literature. Happily married to a high-ranking official, the enchanting, clever and gentle Anna falls prey to young officer Count Wronski. A passionate affair that she does not hide from her husband or from society takes its course in Moscow and Saint Petersburg.

Re-read it! I do this every two years, it's a perfect novel about imperfection.

The Magus

John Fowles
"The Magus" reflects the zeitgeist of the 1960s and addresses the philosophy of existentialism, psychoanalysis and philosophical mysticism. John Fowles work is based on autobiographical experiences as a teacher on the island of Spetses.

Read it! Fiction allows you to experience something without going through it yourself.
